The Mt. Adams Prescribed Burn Association is excited to announce that we will be hosting a wildland firefighter field day training (S-130 field day) at The Pine Flats tract of the Mt. Adams Community Forest, on Saturday June 28, from 8am to 5pm. This offering is free and open to anyone looking to expand their fire experience and knowledge. PBA members will be given priority consideration if registrants exceed our training capacity.
What this training will provide:
Enhanced safety and training - firefighters and fire practitioners will learn how to assess risks, build mitigation plans, and understand firefighting safety systems like LCES (Lookouts, Communication, Escape Routes, and Safety Zones), and their importance.
Foundational fire training - this instructor-led training will provide foundational skills and knowledge for working safely on both wildland fires and prescribed fires, including firefighting techniques, basic tools and equipment, and some fire behavior considerations.
Career development - This training fulfills one of the necessary prerequisites for a Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2) certification.
